Bushwick's small room under the M train
Bossa Nova Civic Club opened in December 2012, founded by John Barclay, and it is still listed in Resident Advisor's guide to New York clubs. It is a room for about 140 people on Myrtle Avenue, right under the elevated M train, with a bar up front and a dark dance floor at the back. The music runs from techno and industrial to house and experimental sets, and the line-up changes every night. Listings in 2026 included SLIP in August, A Life Of on September 2 and DAYTONA 500 on October 29.
Planning a night at Bossa
Bossa Nova is listed as open every day from 7pm to 4am, and the club part of the night starts around 10pm. It is the kind of place where people drop in late after another party in Bushwick, so it is busiest after midnight on weekends. Events are announced on Resident Advisor and on the club's Instagram. Because the room is small, big names fill it quickly: if a particular DJ is the reason you're going, check with us on WhatsApp before you head over.
