VIP Tables at The Surf Lodge
The Surf Lodge is on Time Out's list of the best bars in Montauk. If you want a table or are planning a group day, message us on WhatsApp with the date and how many you are, and we'll tell you what's possible once the 2027 season is announced.
How to Get to The Surf Lodge
The Surf Lodge is at 183 Edgemere St in Montauk, on the shore of Fort Pond, at the far eastern end of Long Island. Montauk is the eastern end of the Long Island Rail Road's Montauk Branch; plan your way back before you go.
Dress Code & Entry Requirements
The Surf Lodge doesn't publish a dress code on its website. Time Out described a door with "difficult bouncers" in 2024, so plan on summer clothes that look put together rather than straight-off-the-beach. Message us on WhatsApp before you go if you're unsure.
A hotel on Fort Pond that turns into Montauk's summer stage
The Surf Lodge describes itself as a boutique hotel with dining and live music: 20 waterfront rooms and suites, a restaurant and a beach-and-deck area on the shore of Fort Pond in Montauk. Time Out's guide to Montauk bars sent readers there to "take sunset pics over Fort Pond" and hear live music. The season is short and fixed: the website invites guests from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day, and during those months the program goes beyond music, with surf lessons, yoga and pilates, World Cup screenings and restaurant takeovers. After Labor Day the lodge closes for the season until the next summer. For 2026 that point has already passed: the music page says the 2026 season has come to an end and points to the Summer 2027 lineup, which isn't out yet.
Summer 2026 at The Surf Lodge: sunsets, residencies and concerts
The 2026 season gives a good idea of what to expect. Over the Fourth of July weekend, NYLON ran a residency at The Surf Lodge from Thursday, July 2 to Saturday, July 4, starting at 4pm each day, with DJs such as Hugel and Carlita on the bill. Adam Port played on Sunday, July 5 from 4pm. At the end of July the lodge ran a "Post Sunset" night on July 31 from 9pm, and Cheat Codes played on July 30. The season closed out with WhoMadeWho on September 4, over Labor Day weekend. In 2025 the opening weekend fell on Memorial Day weekend, with names like Michael Bibi and Francis Mercier. The pattern is clear: afternoon and sunset sets on the deck, with some events running into the evening. Lineups change every year, so check with us before you plan a trip around one name.
Tables, groups and planning a Montauk weekend
The Surf Lodge is one of the places people plan a Montauk weekend around, especially on Memorial Day, the Fourth of July and Labor Day weekends. Some events sell tickets and the deck gets busy, so it's worth planning ahead. We don't sell anything through the lodge's own channels: tell us on WhatsApp the date, how many you are and whether you want a table or just to go to a concert, and we'll tell you what makes sense once the 2027 season and lineup are announced. Montauk also has Bounce Beach for daytime parties and Gurney's Beach Club for a beach day with a DJ, so a group weekend can cover more than one spot. For the rest of the season's options, our Hamptons and Montauk nightlife guide covers what's on in summer and what closes after Labor Day.
