The Best Clubs in New York City, Borough by Borough (Updated Nov 2026)

· Updated:

As of November 2026, New York's best-known clubs are Marquee, TAO Downtown and Le Bain in Manhattan, Elsewhere, House of Yes and Good Room in Brooklyn, and Nowadays and BASEMENT in Queens. Which one is best for you depends on the night you want: Manhattan does tables, dress codes and big-name DJs; Brooklyn and Queens do long dance floors, strict sound systems and, often, no phones.

Every club below was checked on Nov 3, 2026 against its own website, its event listings or recent press. Where sources disagree on nights, we say so. Closed clubs that still rank on Google (1OAK, LAVO, the Brooklyn Mirage, La Boom) are not on this list.

The biggest rooms

If 'best' means 'biggest', the answer is in Brooklyn. Pacha New York, on the former Brooklyn Mirage site at 140 Stewart Ave, covers about 80,000 sq ft between its open-air area, the Great Hall and Kings Hall, according to a 2026 club guide. In Manhattan, the largest figure we found is Musica at 637 W 50th St: about 25,000 sq ft over three floors plus a rooftop. Nebula, by Times Square, has around 10,000 sq ft on three floors wrapped in LED screens.

Size is not only square footage. Elsewhere in Bushwick has five spaces, with The Hall holding around 700 people, per Resident Advisor and Time Out. Knockdown Center in Maspeth is a glass factory from 1903 with four spaces, and BASEMENT runs separately underneath it. On the warehouse side, SILO and Refuge hold around 500 each.

Manhattan: table clubs and big-name DJs

Marquee is the name most people mean when they say 'a club in New York'. It has been on 10th Ave in Chelsea since 2003, closed in April 2025 for a renovation and reopened on Sept 25, 2025. Tao Group lists it Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, 11pm to 4am, with big-room house and EDM from touring DJs. Five minutes away, TAO Downtown runs a drinks-only nightclub apart from its restaurant at 369 W 16th St, with hip-hop, R&B and top 40.

Le Bain, on the top floor of The Standard, High Line, is the house and disco room of the Meatpacking District, with Eli Escobar on Wednesdays and guests like Rich Medina and Tony Humphries on its November 2026 calendar. Somewhere Nowhere, on the 38th and 39th floors of 112 W 25th St, is a pool rooftop by day and a club by night. For a show before the dance floor, The Box on Chrystie Street (cabaret, table-only) and Paradise Club at the Times Square EDITION (a show, then a DJ) are the two to know, along with Silencio on W 57th St, the New York sister of the Paris club, open since February 2024.

Brooklyn: where the dance-music crowd goes

Brooklyn is where New York's club culture lives in 2026. Elsewhere (599 Johnson Ave, open since 2017) mixes concerts with Friday and Saturday club nights. House of Yes (2 Wyckoff Ave, entrance on Jefferson St) pairs house and disco with circus, cabaret and drag, and every weekend has a theme. Good Room in Greenpoint has run since November 2014 with a main room for house, techno and disco and a smaller vinyl room, Bad Room. Public Records in Gowanus, number one on Time Out's club list, built its Sound Room around a quadraphonic hi-fi system.

The newer warehouse rooms sit along Morgan, Scott and Ten Eyck in East Williamsburg: SILO (open since 2023), Signal (since May 2025, 210 people) and Refuge (since September 2025, no VIP and no bottles). Pacha New York opened in June 2026 on the old Brooklyn Mirage lot and moves indoors to Brooklyn Pacha from Nov 6, 2026, under a temporary liquor license.

Queens: Nowadays, BASEMENT and H0L0

Ridgewood and Maspeth, just over the Brooklyn line, hold three of the city's most respected dance floors. Nowadays (56-06 Cooper Ave) has an indoor room and a garden, and since January 2024 its weekly Nonstop runs from Saturday at 10pm to Sunday at 10pm. BASEMENT, in brick tunnels under Knockdown Center, is the city's best-known techno room, with STUDIO next door for house; it goes into the morning on Fridays and Saturdays. H0L0, on Wyckoff Ave, has been a DIY techno and house club since 2017.

Hip-hop, Latin and LGBTQ+ nights

If the music matters more than the room, start with the genre guides. Hip-hop and R&B live at Harbor, Out of Ordinary, TAO Downtown and SOB's. Reggaeton and salsa at Copacabana, NEXO and SOB's. The gay and queer scene runs from Club Rawhide and The Eagle in Chelsea to 3 Dollar Bill and ANIMAL in Brooklyn.

How to get in

Four things decide your night: when you arrive, what you wear, whether you are on a list and whether you have a table. In New York, alcohol sales stop at 4am, Manhattan doors are stricter than Brooklyn's, and some clubs have no guest list at all. Message us on WhatsApp with the club, the date and how many you are, and we'll tell you how that night works.
