NYC Clubs That Closed (and What Replaced Them): 2019–2026

· Updated:

Several of New York's best-known clubs have closed since 2019: 1OAK (2022), Jane Ballroom (2022), LAVO (2024), Output (2019), Black Flamingo and TBA (2025), Club Lambda (2026), La Boom in Queens (2025) and the Brooklyn Mirage, whose site is now Pacha New York. Here is what shut, when, and what is there now.

Manhattan

1OAK was evicted from its West 17th Street space on Oct 20, 2022 and no longer runs as a regular club. Jane Ballroom at the Jane Hotel closed to the public on Nov 19, 2022 to become a private club. The Q, a gay club on 8th Avenue in Hell's Kitchen, shut on Mar 27, 2023 after a dispute between its partners. Tao Group's LAVO NYC on East 58th Street had its last party on Jan 23, 2024, after the company filed a WARN notice for its staff.

Some closures led straight to a new club. Taj Lounge at 48 W 21st St closed in January 2025 after 11 years, and the space reopened on Halloween 2025 as Out of Ordinary. Next door, Bounce Sporting Club at 55 W 21st St was reported closed in March 2024; the address now houses Amber Room. On the Bowery, Katra Lounge was reported to have had its last night on Dec 31, 2024. And in Tribeca, Paul's Baby Grand at the Roxy Hotel has closed.

Brooklyn

Output closed on Jan 1, 2019; the building at 74 Wythe Ave is now Superior Ingredients. In 2025, Williamsburg lost Black Flamingo (Mar 1, rising rent) and TBA Brooklyn (March, end of lease). Club Lambda at 1031 Grand St held its last party on Feb 28, 2026, while its Harlem sibling, Lambda Lounge, stays open. And the Brooklyn Mirage never reopened after its rebuild: its operator went through Chapter 11 and the site reopened as Pacha New York.

Queens: La Boom (watch out for fake tickets)

La Boom, the Latin club at 56-15 Northern Blvd in Woodside, had its last listed show on Aug 8, 2025, and the building has been marketed for sale. Tickets for La Boom dates in November 2026 have been reported online. The club is not operating, so don't buy them. In Astoria, the old Central Lounge at 20-30 Steinway St is now Code Astoria.

Still open, despite the rumors

The Copacabana is still open: it has been at 625 W 51st St in Hell's Kitchen since 2022, with dated events in 2026. Its old web address now redirects to an unrelated store, which may be why some people think it closed.

Reunions are not reopenings

Twilo, the 1990s superclub that closed in 2001, came back for a two-night reunion in March 2026. It was a one-off, not a reopening. The same goes for the old Pacha NYC in Hell's Kitchen (2005 to January 2016): the Pacha in Brooklyn today is a new venue.
