Where it is

BASEMENT sits under Knockdown Center, a former glass factory in Maspeth, Queens, but it's a separate club with its own entrance. Same address, different door, different night: Knockdown hosts concerts, art and big events upstairs, while BASEMENT is the techno room below. Don't go to the main Knockdown entrance expecting to be let downstairs.

BASEMENT vs. STUDIO

The club opened in May 2019 in a set of brick tunnels, and the main room is all techno. In September 2022 it added STUDIO, a second room that leans more toward house. Both run on the same nights. The November 2026 listings give a sense of the booking: Aurora Halal on Nov 6, Wrecked on Nov 7, Schwefelgelb on Nov 13, Lady Starlight on Nov 20 and Function with Nastia Reigel on Nov 21.

The house rules

BASEMENT is one of the strictest no-phone clubs in New York: no photos and no video inside, and it has also banned smart glasses. A ticket doesn't guarantee you get in either; the door can still say no. Go in expecting to put your phone away for the night, and the rest of the room will be doing the same.

How late it goes

Listings put the doors around 10:30pm on Friday and Saturday and the end of the night around 7am. The bar has to stop serving alcohol at 4am under New York State law (ABC Law §106), but clubs can keep the music going without alcohol, which is how BASEMENT keeps dancing into the morning.

What to wear

We haven't found a published dress code for BASEMENT. What matters at the door is the rules above, not what you wear.
